Gold Panning in England, Scotland and Wales

With the price of gold soaring to within touching distance of $2000 an ounce, and with some financial forecasters predicting a price of 5 grand plus in the not too distant future, it seems gold bullion could be out of reach for most cash strapped punters.

That may be so, but it doesn’t mean the poor yet resourceful can’t secure some gold. I’m not suggesting bank robbing or gold mining 🙂 I was talking about gold panning. Indeed this ancient craft is not solely for prospectors in the USA and Australia, you can pan for gold nuggets in the United Kingdom, if you know where to look.

Dolgellau and the Cothi Valley in Wales and as the video to the right suggests, Crawford Moor in Scotland, both offer opportunities to find nuggets in their rivers and streams. Make sure you have a license before you go panning though!
